Another first for SkiboardPlanet.com in the 2010 Event was the addition of the Big Air Competition.  We gave the guys 2 shots at giving it their all.  We let the guys pick the jump (majority vote) and then they threw their best tricks, hoofing it up to the top of the jump to give their second try.  From the review of the video and from our judges, Brett Connor and Sonja Dragan,  the winner is...

In 2009, the Fakie competition was a first of it's kind ever, a gated slalom course for a single ride.  We tested each competitor for their skills and ability in a timed race.  Each competitor had one chance to do their best and the top 3 times won the medal slots.  This year the 2010 competion expanded it's skills definitions and gave another 1st ever of it's kind of Fakie competition.  Fakie Parallel Slalom.  The guys competed against each other in heats and the "best of" won in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals.
After setting up the course we watched the guys and girls give it their best.  A great big thanks goes out to Kirk T., Kirk S., Brett, and Jason for getting out in the rain to help Normand and I set up the course!!

Your PRO Winners for Fakie Parallel Slalom...!!

This year's biggest challenge with the Fakie Parallel Slalom course was the fact that Ragged refused to set it up.  They gave us the drill and gave us the gate markers and basically said if you still want to do it here you go...I'm sure their decision was weather related, they just didn't understand that skiboarders have skill and determination and the weather doesn't scare us!!  We set up our course, placed the markers, painted the start, finish and turn lines, and continued with our competition. 

Our Amateur Division Winners...

Once again the decision to segregate the comp into divisions of PRO, AMS and YOUTH showed to be a good move, our PRO's ran the course against each other and really stepped it up.  The numbers were less so there weren't as many heats so you had to give it your all in order to place.  They showed no mercy on each other and had a great time!!

And your winners for PRO Division Skiboard Cross are...

Those individuals who competed in Skiboard Cross in 2009 came back in 2010 and found tighter turns, bigger kickers on the jumps and weather conditions that were extremely challenging.  In our second day of competition the skies were gray and delivering rain and sleet during the entire day.  The returning competitors met a tougher course than last year and those who competed for the first time this year found out the meaning of the term - "it's a competition you get wet!"  Thanks to all who competed, for staying and toughing it out.  And by the way, all of us were soaked!!  And thanks Wendy for working the slots and the bye's!!

Our top three in Skiboard Cross!!

SkiboardPlanet.com added a new competition to our event this year.  Rail Jam!  Because we'd never hosted a Rail Jam before we let the guys decide on how the competition would run and how it would be judged.  The consensus - 20 minutes of video on a double feature, side by side, as many hits as you wanted to try.  After the comp was over, dinner was served, libations were consumed, we gathered inside the lodge and played back the video to the entire group.  If you weren't there you missed out on some amazing video, some amazing tricks, and wild audience participation in the viewing, playbacks, and judging of the competition.  The catch - only 1 winner.  Being judged by your peers is like getting the People's Choice Award.  So to you Tim Miller, congratulations, the people voted and you won the prize!!

Tim caught a plane in Seattle and traveled all the way across the country to compete in this years event.  We were priviledged to have him stay at our home as a guest prior to and after the competition.  I had a conversation with Tim and he told me that this was something he wanted to accomplish, being able to actually compete in a real competition of this sort!   Well, SkiboardPlanet.com is very proud to say you're a new friend and a great competitor!!

The competitions was narrowed down this year for our Professional competitors.  This year we told the pro's - you're competing only against each other.  So this years competition for Slopestyle was truly amazing in this division.  These guys knew that they really had to perform in order to place and win.  Our placement this year was headed up in all three slots by Revel8 riders and we know how much this means to them!!

This year Skiboardplanet.com decided to allow the participants in the events to medal in divisions.  Our first year to have an Amatuer Division really set the bar for everyone.  And we think this years performance by the competitors on the slopes were outstanding.  For the Amateurs, knowing that their medal wouldn't be given up automacially to a Pro rider we think made them pushed themselves to practice even harder to be able to obtain a medal in this years event.

Ragged Mountain set up a beginner terrain park this year and we thought it best to use for our Youth Slopestyle Competition.  The course was set up with Feature #1 as a box, Feature #2 as a rail, Feature #3 was a left bank, Feature #4 was a roller, and Feature #5 was a split level box with and end drop off.
